SOUND GARDEN

Metal detector control targets.
Sound Garden and Crucible.

The Sound Garden is the physical testing side of SSL: repeatable target encounters tied to exact equipment, settings and recorded conditions.

Compare a known target before interpreting an unknown find

  1. Choose a documented identity. Browse the public target-family register. Record the actual specimen’s material, shape and dimensions; a family label alone does not establish those details.
  2. Keep one baseline. Record detector, coil, software, mode and detector settings, alongside the target position and conditions.
  3. Change one condition. Compare the same target at a documented depth or orientation, with consistent coil motion. Record tones, the range or absence of Target IDs, and no-detection outcomes. Learn how to read those signals.
  4. Keep the limits with the result. A surface or board comparison does not establish buried-field depth. A planning diagram is not a test report. Read the evidence standards.

Public methodology and target summaries are available without an account. The interactive plot map and detailed comparison plans require member sign-in.

Explore the target plot plan

Search all 221 active target identities. Each target has a 3 × 3 ft planning plot, with centered single-specimen and four-quadrant placement rules. Member plans include 3,633 depth-and-orientation comparisons. Six inches is the standard planning depth when no separate depth is recorded; reference and historical setups keep their own constraints. These are plans, not measured installations. Actual specimen dimensions, burial positions and field results remain unrecorded.

Sound Garden

Seven lane identities organize the Sound Garden and new find families. Each physical station and target placement retains its own recorded identity and conditions.

Trash / Pool, Grail and White Reference have separate roles. Former Deep Treasure targets remain in Extended Depth & Cache testing.

Crucible control board

The separate primary board is 24 × 36 inches. Four perimeter paths and two full corner-to-corner diagonals make six board paths. These paths are distinct from the garden's seven subject lanes.

The Grail and White Reference remain separate reference roles. This page is an overview, not a fabrication drawing or released product offer.

Recorded sound and tests

Useful comparisons need the exact target, detector, coil, firmware, settings, conditions and protocol. Raw results and no-detection outcomes must remain available alongside interpretation.

SSL certification program

In development: full Sound Garden testing or a named lane/claim evaluation, with comparison to an unmodified reference detector and linked detector-and-coil QR records.
